So Pure: Carbon neutral
When you make products, you have to consider the impact of the environment. Every step of the way. From production to formulas, transport to packaging. Here’s what we did to make the So Pure products certified carbon neutral.
Determining the CO₂ emissions
Using Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) calculation methods, we determined the CO₂ emissions of the entire product value chain of the So Pure products. That means we dove into the raw materials that make up the products and how they’re manufactured, transported and finally disposed of. All to determine how much carbon emissions we’re generating.
The So Pure philosophy
We continue to research the best ways to reduce our carbon emissions. To achieve this, we set up Keune Cares – remember, the strategy that encompasses our sustainability goals? And we’ve come up with the So Pure philosophy and its 4 pillars.
Certified carbon offset project
We offset unabated emissions for So Pure, supporting a certified carbon offset project with ClimatePartner. To compensate for any remaining emissions, we support forest protection in Colombia. This project is certified via international, independent standards developed by NGOs. The project is audited annually by an independent third party to make sure the project requirements are met. Lastly, the project must have a positive social and ecological impact on the region and the people living there – all in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
So Pure
The 4 pillars
Buy a refillable shampoo or conditioner bottle once, then switch to refill pouches. You’ll use less plastic* without even having to think about it.
RepurposedSo Pure product formulas are based on sugar beet waste. Using what’s already there doesn’t just reduce waste, but sugar beet also has a beautifying, nourishing effect on hair. Talk about a win-win.
ConcentratedConcentrated shampoos and conditioners. Use less, get more? With these products: absolutely.
Carbon NeutralWe developed So Pure with the belief that every step in the life cycle counts: from production to formulas, transport, and packaging. And to compensate for our CO₂ footprint, we offset all unabated emissions with a certified carbon offset project.
*57% less plastic per mL based on six 400mL pouches, compared to former 250mL So Pure bottles.
