Dye your hair at home or at the hairdresser?
The big question! Is it okay to dye your hair at home or is it better to go to the hairdresser? At Keune we are not a fan of dyeing your hair yourself. Unless you have experience with professional hairdressing products. For example, if you have completed a hairdressing education. If you are not a professional, you run a high risk of a poor outcome and hair damage.

The quality of professional hair coloring at a hairdresser is better than a hair dye from a package at the drugstore. Hair dye from a drugstore is tailored to the average consumer with no hairdressing experience. This hair dye should work on any type of hair. Therefore, it contains higher percentages of chemicals than professional hair dye. This can be bad for the quality of your hair.
The coloring chosen by the hairdresser takes better care of the hair because it is tailored to your hair. A hairdresser mixes different colors to achieve the desired result.
The resultHair dye from the drugstore contains one color, but can give varying results. That depends on your current hair color and the color of the hair dye. In addition, the color can turn out differently with dry, damaged hair. A hairdresser looks at your hair type, quality and color and whether you have had previous color treatments. Based on this, he or she comes up with a custom-made coloring.
How long does hair dye from the hairdresser last?Hair dye from the drugstore is of lower quality and disappears from your hair faster than professional hair dye. Permanent hair coloring by the hairdresser lasts a very long time. The color fades very slowly. How fast that process goes depends on the hair care after coloring. Over time you will see regrowth at your hair roots. Hairdressers advise to update the regrowth every 6 to 8 weeks. Tip: the balayage technique reduces the visible effect of regrowth. A semi-permanent hair color disappears from your hair faster. You gradually wash this out of your hair.
What is the best hairdresser to dye your hair? Before you have your hair dyed at a hairdresser, we advise you to do proper research in advance. For example, you can look at hairdressers who have won awards for hair coloring in competitions. Not sure which hair would look good? Then visit the hairdresser for a consultation. This way you prevent a hair coloring that you are not happy with. Find a salon near you.

1. Bleaching
If you're going to bleach your hair, you can easily free up half a day to a whole day for this. The darker and longer your hair, the longer you spend in the barber chair. Setting highlights takes on average between 1.5 and 3 hours. This also depends entirely on your wishes and your hair length.

Do you have to wash your hair before getting it dyed at the hairdresser? It is advisable not to wash your hair 1 to 2 days before the color treatment. The natural oils on your scalp protect the fragile skin during the dyeing process. This has no further influence on the result of the hair coloring.
How long do you not wash your hair after dyeing? After a color treatment, we recommend you, not to wash your hair immediately when you return home. This can make the color fade faster. Wait at least 1 to 2 days for this. We recommend washing your hair 2 times a week; curly hair 1 time per week. To keep your new hair color beautiful for as long as possible, we recommend Tinta Color or Color Brillianz shampoo and conditioner. To repair hair damage from coloring, our Blond Savior (for bleached hair) or Bond Fusion Phase Three (for all color treatments). Use a mask for colored hair once a week for extra hydration. Give bleached hair a cool tone again with the So Pure Cool shampoo or conditioner.
